Folks have asked me why the liturgy can't just be written in regular language.  The above phrase from the second option for the Collect of the Ascension of the Lord is a perfect example of why it's not.

I can't imagine any way of making this phrase carry the oomph that it does when it's written like it is. Yes, we may have to listen harder, but there's so much packed in just a few words.  Those heavenly realms - it's almost like it makes you want to go there!
